What is Compassionate Inquiry®?

Compassionate Inquiry® is an approach to personal growth and healing developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, a renowned physician, speaker, and author, and Sat Dharam Kaur, a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, author, and naturopathic physician. This approach emphasizes the importance of compassion and curiosity in understanding and healing our emotional pain and challenges.

At the heart of Compassionate Inquiry® lies the belief that our problems and struggles are not due to personal shortcomings or weaknesses, but rather the result of unmet emotional needs and unprocessed trauma. Through Compassionate Inquiry®, we learn to approach our pain with curiosity and compassion, rather than with judgment or avoidance.

The Compassionate Inquiry® Process

The process involves exploring the root causes of our pain, which may be hidden beneath layers of shame and self-criticism. By exploring our emotions with openness and without judgment, we can uncover patterns of behavior and thinking that no longer serve us, and we can work to cultivate greater self-awareness and self-compassion.

In general, Compassionate Inquiry® offers a powerful and transformative tool for personal growth and healing, allowing us to live more fully and authentically in the present moment.

About Compassionate Inquiry®

CompassionateInquiryR offers a gentle, nonjudgmental approach to exploring our inner world. It encourages us to explore our thoughts, emotions, and sensations with curiosity and kindness. In this way, we can transform the defense mechanisms we have built to protect ourselves from discomfort or pain, while honoring the gifts they have brought us. Through this process, we gain a deeper understanding of the power we hold behind our defenses—the strength and resilience we possess that allow us to navigate situations that may challenge us. CompassionateInquiry® allows us to embrace all aspects of ourselves, including the shadows and vulnerabilities we have avoided, ultimately leading to an authentic and integrated sense of self.
